For best results, please read all instructions thoroughly prior to attempting installation of your SIR MICHAEL'S weld-on steel roll pan. SIR MICHAEL'S recommends the use of approved hand, eye and ear safety equipment while performing this installation. If you have any questions concerning the installation of your SIR MICHAEL'S steel roll pan, please contact our customer service department at (714) 379-6800, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST).
NOTE: Any part that is modified and/or painted are non returnable.
Remove rear bumper from vehicle.
On all Suburbans and Tahoes, the frame horns must be cut back to allow the roll pan to fit flush with the body. NOTE: On Suburbans and two door Tahoes, a 1/2" strip needs to be trimmed off the gas tank mount for added clearance. Remove the plastic tailgate sill protector from door/tailgate jam. This will need to be notched later to clear for the mounting brackets on the roll pan.
Test fit roll pan up to the body, lining up roll pan with the bottom of the truck. Using C-clamps, clamp the roll pan in place.
After test fitting, remove the roll pan from vehicle. Using a sander remove any paint on the body where the roll pan will be welded on. NOTE: SIR MICHAELíS weld-on roll pans have a 1/2 to 1" overlap, this overlap is for strength purposes as well as ease in welding. There would be less chance of the roll pan cracking at the seam when the weld is applied on the overlap.
Clamp the roll pan back onto the rear of the vehicle. Using a wire feed mig welder, tack weld the roll pan in place. By using a body hammer, tap the roll pan lip flat against the body. Tack weld then hammer form the roll pan to the body. Make sure good penetration is made, especially at the top corners of the body where the roll pan is at, (this is a common place for stress cracks).
Once the roll pan has been welded on, grind down the welds and apply body filler, sand and paint to match.
Apply some seam sealer to the back side of the roll pan where the roll pan is welded to the body. This will help keep moisture out.
Install the license plate lite using the two #8 screws. ( Do Not Overtighten Screws) Snap in the plastic nuts into the square holes in the license plate box. Install your license plate with the two phillips head screws provided.
To wire up the license plate lite, connect one wire to the parking lite wire from the taillites and the other wire must be grounded to the frame.
