For best results, please read all instructions thoroughly prior to attempting installation of your SIR MICHAEL’S bolt-on steel roll pan. SIR MICHAEL’S recommends the use of approved hand, eye and ear safety equipment while performing this installation. If you have any questions concerning the installation of your SIR MICHAEL’S steel roll pan, please contact our customer service department at (714) 379-6800, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST).
NOTE: Any part that is modified and/or painted are non returnable.
1. Remove rear bumper from vehicle and tow hitch if equipped. Remove tailgate from vehicle.
2. Test fit roll pan using masking tape to protect the edges of the body during test fitting. Line up the roll pan so it is flush with the bottom of the bed. (Fig 1) Once the roll pan is lined up, use the #8 screws provided to attach the top of the roll pan to the back part of the bed. (Fig 2) NOTE: Roll pans with taillights may require trimming of the bed and frame. Be sure to test fit with light boxes installed in roll pan.
3. Next, line up the bottom of the roll pan flush with the bed sides. Remove the bottom factory torx head bolt. Reinstall the torx head bolt thru the roll pan and into the lower inside corner of the bed. (Fig 3)
4. After test fitting, remove roll pan from vehicle to be prepped for paint. A lite coat of body filler is used to fill the seams around the license plate and at the end of the roll pan . For good paint adhesion, sand down the roll pan completely before applying any primer or paint.
5. Apply some seam sealer to the backside of the roll pan where the roll pan is welded. This will help keep moisture out. Spray-on undercoat is also recommended for the backside to help prevent rust problems.
6 After roll pan has been color matched, Install the license plate lite using the two #8 screws. Snap in the plastic nuts into the square holes in the license plate box. Install your license plate with the two phillips head screws provided. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN SCREWS
7. To install your license plate, break out the two tabs toward the inside. (Fig 4) If you are using a license plate flip bracket, break out the two outside tabs. (Fig 5 & 6)
8. Reinstall roll pan. To wire up the license plate lite, connect one wires by splicing the two black wires to the black and brown wires on the factory taillight harness.
