Remove the tailgate from the truck and set on saw horses or a work bench.
Remove inside inspection panel cover and disconnect rods from handle. Unbolt handle from tailgate.
Use the supplied template and line up the holes on the template with the holes on the inspection panel cover.
Trace out the dotted line area, this is the area that you will cut out. Using a die grinder with a cutting disc or use a drill and a jigsaw with a steel cutting blade. Drill four 5/16" holes, one in each corner. Then using a die grinder or jigsaw cut from corner to corner. Now bolt the handle to the relocater and place on the inspection panel. Using a 1/8" drill bit, drill six holes to mount the relocater to the inspection panel.
Place inspection panel back on the tailgate and hook the rods back into the handle and bolt inspection panel back to the tailgate.
Remove all paint from the orginial handle lip and approximately 2" around the existing handle hole.
Place supplied handle hole cover over existing hole and spot weld into place. We recommend a mig (wire feed) welder. NOTE: Welding one continuous line will cause tailgate to warp.
Tack a small area then let cool and repeat until complete.
Grind down the welds and finish off with body filler, block sand, primer and paint. Now your are ready to re-install the tailgate back onto the truck.
